Enjoy a breathtaking view from Mt. Fuji and visit the historical mountain resort area of Hakone. Explore Kyoto's 1,200 years of history with a visit to the Tokugawa era shogun's residence, Nijo Castle, and the gold-leaf covered Golden Pavilion and its exquisite surrounding garden. Visit Kyoto Imperial Palace and watch Japanese artisans work their craft at the Kyoto Handicraft Center. Walk through Sanjusangendo Temple, Japan's longest wooden structure, and browse the specialty shops on the walk up to Kiyomizudera Temple, where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the city. Admire Heian Jingu Shrine, a partial replica of the Imperial Palace.

Day 1. Tokyo - Mt. Fuji - Hakone - Kyoto
Take a deluxe motorcoach to the foot of Mt. Fuji via expressway, and drive halfway up Japan's highest mountain to enjoy a spectacular view from a height of 2,300 meters. Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch.

In the afternoon, visit Hakone for the Hakone Ropeway, Owakudani Valley and a cruise on Lake Ashi (pirate boat). Board a shinkansen to the classical city of Kyoto.

Day 2. Kyoto - Nara - Kyoto
Do some morning sightseeing around the city, visiting Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), Nijo Castle which is noted for its gorgeous interiors, and Kyoto Imperial Palace. After lunch at Kyoto Handicraft Center, go on an excursion to Nara, the first permanent capital of Japan. Visit Todaiji Temple which houses a Great Buddha, colorful Kasuga Taisha Shrine which boasts 3000 lanterns, and Nara Park (Deer Park) where there are many freely-roaming, tame deer. Return to Kyoto.

Day 3. Kyoto
The tour disbands in the morning in Kyoto.

- When the driveway up to Mt.Fuji's 5th station is closed in winter due to heavy snow, you will go up highest possible point.
- Hakone Ropeway or Cruise on Lake Ashi may also be omitted or substituted depending on traffic, weather conditions, or for other operational reasons. Alternatives are: Narukawa Museum in Hakone, Hakone Check Point, Cruise on Lake Kawaguchi, Hakone-en Aquarium, Hakone shrine, and Lake Kawaguchi Ropeway.

- On days when the Nijo Castle is closed you will visit "Ryoanji Temple" instead.
- On days when Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed you will visit "Nishi Honganji" instead.
