This excursion takes us to the countryside north of Amsterdam, to the edge of the river Zaan, where we visit windmill village "de Zaanse Schans," with its characteristic green wooden houses. At the turn of the 18th century this district was an industrial area with approximately 700 windmills in use. Today there are only five left.

We will pay a visit to a windmill and a wooden shoe factory. We'll pass through typical Dutch scenery as we continue to the medieval town of Edam, where we'll go for a city walk. We will visit the traditional fisherman's village of Volendam, situated on the shores of the former Zuiderzee. Some of the inhabitants still wear the traditional Dutch costumes. This tour also includes a visit to a cheese farm and entrance.
